We are back with another Zen Dog Spotlight featuring our energetic and fun loving Boston Terrier, Rosie! She is an instant ray of sunshine to everyone she meets!  Rosie has been featured on our blog including; Zen Dogs New Year Resolutions,  and Zen Dogs > El Nino, along with being featured on our Instagram and Facebook page showing off that adorable mug. Rosie is always ready for a new adventure, especially with our zen team member Victoria, when Mom, Lauren and Dad, Garrett are away at work. Take it away Rosie!

1. State your name and let us know a bit about your background.

"My name is Rosie, I am a Boston Terrier, and I am a little over seven years old. That is 1 year in human years. In that short time, I have lived in Florida, and traveled across the country. When I first met Lauren and Garrett, my parents, I had a good feeling about them. We make a great team. I have learned to be very photogenic, as Lauren has probably taken 1 million pictures of me. I love doing things outside and exploring new places. San Diego has been great with all the awesome places to hike and dog friendly spots. I really enjoy other dogs and people my own size, like kids. You would think I kissed the Blarney Stone with how much I can go on about myself. Next question!"

2. What’s your favorite toy and why?

"Now you have me thinking. I am really lucky, and get new toys quite often. While I really enjoy them all, my Chuck-It toys are my favorite. I love going for a walk to the park or beach to play fetch. I am really good at grabbing the ball out of mid air. I get a kick out of hiding the balls throughout my house and pretending like my parents lost them. At last count, I had six! The only thing better that my Chuck-It is a Kong filled with peanut butter and frozen to the perfect temperature. I heard theses are supposed to keep a puppy occupied for a long time, but I can finish one in no time!"

3. What does your typical day consist of, and what would your ideal day include?

"A typical day starts with me waking up and having breakfast. I like to wake up early, kind of like every day is Christmas. So, I make sure everyone is up as early as I am. I am really good at waking up my parents gently, like jumping on them and licking their faces or bringing them toys. After a nice breakfast and some time outside in the yard to play a little early morning fetch. I get to watch cartoons like Paw Patrol. I hang out and wait for Victoria to swing by. She likes to go to the park and I am always looking for another reason to go, myself. After an afternoon of playing fetch and running around with all of the other dogs, we head home. After a nice dinner, I like to walk with my parents around the neighborhood. It is nice to get out, see and be seen. On the weekends, I really enjoy shopping at Target because I get to ride around in the cart and pretend I am driving."

4. Who is your best friend and how did you meet?

"My best friend is Frig. She is the dog next door. We met, when one afternoon she was walking down the street and jumped over my fence. We played until neither of us could play any more. Since then, every time I see her leave her house I like to run outside and get her to jump the fence to play. Sometimes we like to get really muddy and run through the house when my parents open the door to check on us. Frig knows the sound of my car, so every time I come home from the park, beach, or a vacation she will burst through her screen door to play in my yard. Having Frig as a friend is great because when we play fetch in the yard, she can jump over the fence to get the ball when my parents accidentally throw it over."

5. What is the one question you wish your human would stop asking you, and the one question you wish your human would never stop asking you?

"There are a couple of questions that come to mind. I wish they would stop asking if I have to “go potty.” I mean, how embarrassing. I am over 1 years old. I know when I have to go. It is a toss up for what questions I wish they would never stop asking if I want a treat… really? I would never want them to stop asking if I want to go bye-bye, either. I really enjoy standing on my hind legs with my face out the window and my ears flopping in the wind."

6. If you were going to win an award at the "Oscar Pet Awards" would you want to win it for  1.) Cuteness 2.) Heroism/Courage 3.) Sassiness 4) Loyalty 5) Fashionista.  Give us a quick example/story of why we should pick you!

"I would pretty much be the opposite of Leonardo DiCaprio. I would win an Oscar for all 5 categories! (1) If I had a dog treat for every time I heard I was cute, I would probably be 28 pounds instead of 16. (2) I think some people underestimate my awesome hero skills because of my size. I always sleep with one eye open and am the best judge of character. One time on a road trip from Florida to Michigan, we had to pull over to take a nap. I made sure to stay away and make sure there were no strangers who came to the car. (3) While everyone would probably say I am the most humble puppy ever, I have to be honest and say that my sassiness is best seen with treats. Of course I appreciate everyone who offers a treat, but my parents give me soft Blue Buffalo salmon chews. Milk bones are thought to get excited about after that. (4) I never leave my parents side. Wherever we go and whoever is around, I am never more than arms length away from them. Sometimes I like to literally be right in their face. They might tell you that I am clingy, but it is just because I am so loyal. (5) Thanks to Lauren, she has the best style. My pink harness goes with everything and is great for everyday use. I was in Tahoe for a ski vacation over the Christmas holiday and I have the cutest winter gear! I was the envy of the entire South Lake! Don’t get me started about my birthday crown, my elf hat, or my NYE sunglasses!"

7. Any other insight you would like us to know?

"I really do love my parents, even when they make up songs about me or have conversations with me. However, just because I like puppy-chinos, does not mean I have an Italian accent. They may think I don’t understand them, but I am working on my English. I certainly know what “walk”, “beach”, “dinner”, and “treat” means. I am “The American Gentleman”, I mean Gentlewoman. This is not to be confused with the Frenchies or Frenchtons. While they are great, Boston's are the best!"

"I really love sleeping under the covers and am very thankful for everything I have and have done. I am surrounded by wonderful people and really enjoy my walks with Victoria or hanging out with DogZenergy at the La Jolla Market. I am always looking for new dog friendly places and cannot wait for my next adventure!"
