Zen Dog Spotlight: Truman and Sylvie

We have another fantastic Zen Dog Spotlight for you! This week's feature we are excited to introduce you to our standard party poodles, the lovely Sylvie and always loyal Truman. These two are always a delight to walk around their absolutely gorgeous neighborhood, and they are always up for an adventure. Truman and Sylvie have recently been featured on our social media including: Instagram, @dogzenergy, Facebook,Twitter, and Pinterest.  Our team members always enjoy Truman and Sylvie's happy and high spirited energy! These two are without a doubt one of a kind, and after this awesome interview you will see just how entertaining they are! It's all yours Truman and Sylvie!

State your full name and let us know a bit about your background.

"We are Truman and Sylvie and we are standard party poodles. Party means we are a mix of colors, but we do enjoy a good fiesta!  I, Truman also respond to the names Handsome and Boo-Boo. I am three-years old and obviously extremely cute! My sister Sylvie is 6-we just call her Syl for short. I find her a bit bossy."

What’s your favorite toy and why?

Sylvie: "My favorite toys are anything made by UGG. Slippers and fuzzy boots especially. For some reason, my mom likes to keep them in her closet but I usually manage to get a hold of something. I like to take them into the yard and chew on them  and then leave them in the sprinklers."

Truman: "My favorite toy is something we call Ratty. I’m not sure why we call it that because it’s not a rat. It’s more like an unstuffed bunny. We got it at PetSmart."

What does your typical day consist of, and what would your ideal day include?

"A typical day for us consists of morning stretches, a little vocal warm-up (barking)  and a yummy breakfast and nap. Then we head out for a long, brisk walk around town. We like to stop a lot for sniffs. We like to stand at Calumet Park and check out the surf and breathe in all the ocean smells. Sylvie likes to roll in the grass there. On a good day there will be something good and stinky to roll in like an empty lobster shell or a dead fish. We like to come back and have snacks, belly rubs and more naps. We have dinner together with the whole family. A few times a week we go to the dog park and run around with friends. An ideal day would include all of this plus we would get to bark at the UPS truck and mom would make juicy hamburgers for us."

Who is your best friend and how did you meet?

"We are each others best friend but we also love our cousin Kylie who is a goldendoodle. Sometime we will all go to our grandmothers house together and run around and jump on the furniture and drool water on her floors!!!! Good times! Shout out to our friend Oliver!"

What is the one question you wish your human would stop asking you, and the one question you wish your human would never stop asking you?

"One question we would like our human parents to stop asking us is, “Who did this?” like when something is found all chewed up on the floor or someone kicked all the pillows and cushions off the couch. The question we wish we would never stop hearing is,  “who wants a  treat?”"

If you were going to win an award at the "Oscar Pet Awards" would you want to win it for  1.) Cuteness 2.) Heroism/Courage 3.) Sassiness 4) Loyalty 5) Fashionista.  Give us a quick example/story of why we should pick you!

Sylvie: "If I were going to win an award at the Oscar pet awards I would win for “ loveliest lady in all the land” (for obvious reasons)."

Truman: "If I were to win an award it would be for best companion because I always make sure to follow mom or dad from room to room and  even though I weigh over 60 lbs. I make sure to sit on them if they sit on the couch."

Any other insight you would like us to know?

Sylvie:  "Love one another."

From Truman: "Party poodles rule!!!"

A big thanks to Truman, Sylvie, and their owner Jordana for participating in this week's Zen Dog Spotlight!

Zen Dog Spotlight: Nelson

Welcome back to our Zen Dog Spotlight! This week's feature we are thrilled to introduce you to energetic and always excited labrador Nelson! Every time we see this happy boy for his walks with DogZenergy, he flashes us his gorgeous smile.  Adorable Nelson has been featured on our social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest, he's such a photogenic boy! Nelson's high spirited energy and ready to go attitude ensures an awesome experience for our DogZenergy team members and him on his weekday daily walks.  Nelson has the biggest heart and only wants to share his love with the world. Take it away Nelson!

State your full name and let us know a bit about your background.

"Nelson! I suppose Nelson Shalygin if I had to have a last name…I was actually raised and trained to be a guide dog for the blind but I decided about a year into that career that it just wasn’t right for me and that instead I’d rather play in the sun on the beach or in the snow on the mountain. I’d say it has worked out quite well. I grew up in Seattle but my owner moved to San Diego to be a doctor two years ago and now I live here."

What’s your favorite toy and why?

"My blue bone. I carry it around everywhere I go and like to (literally) put it in peoples faces, but I don’t want them to take it…just see how cool it is."

What does your typical day consist of, and what would your ideal day include?

"Well, my owner works a lot and is gone often from sunrise to sundown so during the day I hang out outside, usually laying in the warm sun listening to the sound of the ocean. I get walked really early in the morning and late at night by him but also in middle of the day by my DogZenergy friends. When’s my owner is not working we usually go to the beach, for a hike, or to fiesta island."

Who is your best friend and how did you meet?

"My best friend is Lloyd, he’s a chocolate lab, we met in Seattle but he now lives in Salt Lake City. My other best friend is Pippa, she’s a shepherd mix, we met in Seattle too and she now lives in Portland. I have some new friends here in San Diego but no one like them yet."

What is the one question you wish your human would stop asking you, and the one question you wish your human would never stop asking you?

"I wish he would stop asking me to stop peeing on the sidewalk…sometimes I just want to pee on cement vs grass, sue me! I hope he never stops asking me if I want a fish skin or kale stem…because the answer is always going to be yes!"

If you were going to win an award at the "Oscar Pet Awards" would you want to win it for  1.) Cuteness 2.) Heroism/Courage 3.) Sassiness 4) Loyalty 5) Fashionista.  Give us a quick example/story of why we should pick you!

"LOYALTY…I never leave my owner’s side. Whenever we hike in a group I always run up and down the trail to make sure the people in the back are not lost and the people in the front know where they are going. I like to keep tabs on everyone."

Any other insight you would like us to know?

"I love all people."

He adores his early afternoon walks with awesome DogZenergy team member, Tristan and continues to make friends wherever he goes. Here's Charlie!

What’s your favorite toy and why?

"My purple toy is by far my favorite.  When I bat it around and tip it over, treats come out!  It’s a never-ending source of joy."

What does your typical day consist of, and what would your ideal day include?

"Sleeping is my favorite and I do as much of it as I can.  In the afternoons my friend, Tristan from DogZenergy, comes to visit and we take nice long walks outside.  I love the smelling all the smells.  On the weekends I try to tag along with my peoples to explore new beaches, parks and restaurants.  Any time with my peoples is a happy time for me.  My ideal day would involve endless belly rubs and a bottomless bucket of liver treats."

Who is your best friend and how did you meet?

"My best friend is one of my peoples, Ryan.  He moved to the US from Australia and calls me, “Mate”.  He was slow to warm up to me as he had only been around farm dogs, but I won him over!  We have a special game we play together called “Huff & Puff”.  It’s my favorite."

What is the one question you wish your human would stop asking you, and the one question you wish your human would never stop asking you?

"Ugh, stop asking me if I ate my breakfast!  I’ll eat it when I’m good and ready.  Just because I have a bit of class and don’t inhale my meals… Geesh." But please never stop asking if I want a cookie.  YES, I always want cookies.  Please and thank you."

If you were going to win an award at the "Oscar Pet Awards" would you want to win it for  1.) Cuteness 2.) Heroism/Courage 3.) Sassiness 4) Loyalty 5) Fashionista.  Give us a quick example/story of why we should pick you!

"I’ve been dabbling in the arts for some time.  Check out my acting/modeling on Instagram @mycharliechannel I’d be grateful for any award I receive and have already been practicing on the red carpet. "

Any other insight you would like us to know?

"When I was a puppy I was afraid of fire hydrants.  Especially the yellow ones.  But now… They’re afraid of me!  And sometimes when I play fetch, I get SO excited about the game that I forget to bring back the toy.  But that’s okay, it give me a reason to run some more!  #secondtimesacharm "

Thank you to Charlie, his mate Ryan and momma Tracy,  for participating in this week's Zen Dog Spotlight!
